Parks and recreation officials with the City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department and local youth riders from the East County Skate and Bike Coalition inaugurated a 14,500-square-foot sculpted concrete skate plaza, an adjacent 480-linear-foot asphalt BMX and scooter pump track, and push-button evening LED sports lighting on Sunday afternoon at the Brentwood Skate and Aquatic Complex at 195 Griffith Lane in central Brentwood. Located beside the Brentwood Family Aquatic Complex and Veterans Park, the expanded wheel-sports hub serves skaters, BMX cyclists, inline skaters, and adaptive WCMX wheelchair athletes from across East Contra Costa County.

Shaped by specialist skatepark artisans after three public design charrettes with Brentwood middle- and high-school riders, the new concrete expansion pairs a seven-foot-deep clover pool bowl—finished with hand-troweled steel coping and California tile mosaic trim—with a street plaza featuring diamond-ground Sierra granite hubba ledges, flat bars, euro-gaps, and a beginner quarter-pipe hip.

Immediately west of the concrete course, crews sculpted a continuous 480-foot all-wheel asphalt pump track with banked berm turns and progressive rhythm rollers that allow toddlers on balance bikes and experienced BMX riders alike to generate momentum without pedaling. Three cantilevered steel shade shelters with concrete tiered bleachers, a bike-tool repair post, and chilled bottle-filling stations border the central promenade.

Four 40-foot directional LED floodlight poles operate on an energy-saving push-button timer until 9:00 p.m. nightly. The $710,000 action-sports expansion was approved by the Brentwood City Council through Park Development Impact fees; hours and helmet rules are posted on the City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Portal.
