The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory through Saturday for low-lying shoreline roadways, parks, and trails along San Pablo Bay, San Francisco Bay, Monterey Bay, and the Pacific coast, NBC Bay Area reported via Bay City News.
Wednesday Peak at 1.9 Feet Above Normal
Forecasters warned that astronomical high tides will run well above normal throughout the week. At the San Francisco tide gauge, high tide is forecast to reach 1.7 feet above normal on Monday and Thursday, 1.8 feet above normal on Tuesday, and peak on Wednesday at 1.9 feet above normal — equivalent to 7.7 feet above mean lower low water.
Residents and commuters near low-lying San Pablo Bay and San Francisco Bay shorelines are advised to avoid driving through standing saltwater and to monitor waterfront parking lots during daily high-tide windows. Following dry conditions early in the week, forecasters project a 20% to 40% chance of rain moving into the Bay Area from Friday into the weekend.
